Let’s manipulate the figure …
The year lasts 365.25 days, ie between 1 January and 31 December :
- How many times has a clock shown 12.00 o’clock ?
- How many times has the Earth spun round on its axis, (relative to the stars) ?
- What is the movement of the Sun relative to the Zodiac ? In what direction ?
- Do we always see the same stars in our night sky ?
The Vernal Point g (the Spring Equinox, 21 March) is at the extremity of the line of the equinoxes. Due to the retrograde motion of the ecliptic which rotates slowly at a speed of one revolution per 2140 years, the Vernal Point also moves round, relative to the constellation : “the precession of the equinoxes”.
