The Laboratoire de Planétologie et de Géodynamique de Nantes is a CNRS laboratory created the 1st january 2000. Its first director was Jacques Girardeau, then Christophe Sotin (2004-2007) and now Eric Humler since the 1st january 2008.

Specialized in the study of the Earth and Solar System’s planets, the laboratory is deeply involved  in several instruments onboard spacecrafts sent to Mars, Venus, Jupiter or Saturn. We are in particular involved as team member in the Cassini-Huygens mission, which was launched in january 1997 and which has reached the system of Saturn in July 2004. In particular, we focus our efforts on the study of  Saturn’s moon Titan, which will be flown by more than 120 times between 2004 and 2017, using data from the Visual and Infrared Mapping Spectrometer (VIMS)

This website presents several aspects of the research work on Titan currently being carried out at the LPGN.
